Overview

WESP is a high voltage electrostatic dust removal equipment used to treat wet gases, mainly used to remove dust, acid fog, water droplets, aerosols, odor, PM2.5 and other harmful substances in wet gas, is the ideal equipment to control atmospheric dust pollution. WESP is usually installed after the wet desulfurization device, and a large amount of water droplets are carried in the saturated flue gas after desulfurization, which is captured when passing through the high-pressure electric field, which can reduce the probability of the formation of gypsum rain. At the same time, it has a good effect on the collection of fine particulate matter PM2.5, acid fog etc.  the smoke emission concentration can reach ≤10 mg/cubic meter.

Wet electrostatic precipitator,commonly referred to as WESP,  has the same basic principle of dust removal as DESP, which involves three stages: charging, collection, and dust cleaning.

 

Working mechanism
The dust collection principle of the
WESP is the same as that of DESPDry-ESP), which relies on the high voltage corona discharge to charge the dust, and the charged dust reaches the dust collecting plate/tube under the action of the electric field force. DESP Dry-ESP) mainly deals with dry gas with very low water content, and WESP mainly deals with wet gas with high water content and even saturation. There is a big difference between WESP and DESP Dry-ESP) in the dust removal methods collected on the dust collecting plate/pipe. DESP Dry-ESP) generally uses mechanical vibration or acoustic cleaning to remove the ash on the electrode, while WESP uses regular washing to remove the dust with the flow of washing liquid.

Characteristics of WESP
 

WESP has the advantages of high dust removal efficiency, low pressure loss, simple operation, low energy consumption, no moving parts, no secondary dust, low maintenance cost, Short production downtime, can work below the dew point temperature of the flue gas, and can be combined with other flue gas treatment equipment due to its compact structure, and diversified design forms.
WESP uses liquid to wash the surface of the dust collector to clean the dust, which can effectively collect fine particles (PM dust, SO acid fog, aerosol), heavy metals (Hg, As, Se, Pb, Cr), organic pollutants (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, dioxins) and so on. After the use of WESP, the smoke emission in the wet flue gas can reach 10mg/m or even 5mg/m, dust collection performance has nothing to do with dust characteristics, suitable for the treatment of wet flue gas
( especially for treatment after wet desulfurization systems)
