On July 15, representatives of the Ministry of Ecological Environment Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan and China China Everbright EP Ltd,. During the meeting, the Ministry of Environment of Uzbekistan briefed China Everbright EP Ltd,. on the ongoing reform of the waste treatment system in the country and understood several issues that need to be addressed in the field, while also providing information on the form composition, volume and combustion rate of the country's solid waste, as well as the investment conditions and guaranteed incentives created for industrial investors.
China Everbright EP Ltd,. highly appreciated the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan and noted its willingness to contribute to resolving these issues.
During the meeting, representatives of China Everbright EP Ltd,. shared their experience in assisting local waste management in Vietnam and discussed issues related to waste incineration for power generation.
Based on Vietnam's experience, China Everbright EP Ltd,. proposes to build and operate a waste incineration power plant in Uzbekistan with an investment period of 30 years. China Everbright EP Ltd,. currently operates two waste incineration power plants in Vietnam, the Hue Province project and the Can Tho Project.
China Everbright EP Ltd,. also visited the central dispatch online monitoring management system of the country's environmental sanitation center. In the next step, Everbright will also visit and familiarize itself with the landfills in Bukhara, Andijan, Fergana and Namangan regions and the operation of local wastewater treatment facilities in Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan, in recent years, has been hoping to make progress in the field of green ecology and environmental protection, to obtain investment from other countries, especially in the field of municipal solid waste, e-waste management and landfill redevelopment.
President Mirziyoyev of the Republic of Uzbekistan, during his state visit to China last year, signed the Intergovernmental Agreement between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the People's Republic of China on Cooperation in the Field of Environmental Protection, which strengthened the legal framework for cooperation and opened more space for Chinese environmental industries and enterprises.
In addition to China, government environmental protection departments and companies from Japan, South Korea and Europe have also visited Uzbekistan to seek cooperation opportunities.
On July 19, Uzbekistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov met with Paul Bodilon, CEO of Suez Europe and Central Asia, to discuss initiatives aimed at strengthening environmental sustainability and infrastructure development in Uzbekistan. The discussion also included the progress of the water supply project in Sukandariya district and the current water supply situation in Tashkent City.
On June 13, Uzbekistan's Environment Minister Aziz Abdukhakimov met with Hiroki Sekine, Managing Director of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC). The Japanese side learned about the current initiatives of the Uzbek government in the field of environmental protection and discussed plans to improve the country's environmental situation. Japan has expressed interest in expanding financing for environmentally oriented projects, including the modernization of wastewater treatment plants and power generation from waste recycling.
Jbic is currently the main coordinating agency for Japan's overseas investment in infrastructure, especially in the field of environmental protection. Almost all relevant companies in Japan have followed the group's lead in seeking infrastructure investment opportunities around the world,
Among the five Central Asian countries, Uzbekistan has a stable political structure, a stable social situation, and a fast economic development rate. It is rarely affected by extreme environmental infantilism in Europe and the United States, and has advanced awareness in the field of environmental investment.
